Trick Or Treat!!!!

Friday, October 31, 2008

We went trick-or-treating with our good friends and neighbors, the Calls... Sky even went and walked with us adults! Although I was hoping we'd be going with the Gerlings as well (Leiah... I'm not sure how that happened, I guess lack of communication =(. The 3 ninjas had a GREAT time, there were quite a few houses that were decorated really fun with lights, cobwebs and ghosts. Kaleb, our socialite, somehow seems to make friends at every door & porch he walked up to... even with the man wearing a scary mask, holding a chainsaw!! Honestly, that boy has NO fear! It was a GREAT time... and the boys got a bit too MUCH candy!!

We all felt QUITE protected once it got dark outside, walking around with our little ninjas!!! =)

Have A Spooktacular Halloween!!!

Friday, October 31, 2008

Today Kaleb went on his first school field trip to Mandengo Creek Farm... he was SO excited to ride on a school bus for the very first time!! His teacher had these really cute green tshirts made for the class that said Mount Olive Elementary School on them, with a tigercub and the school motto 'Where diversity is embraced and learning takes you around the world.' Too cute!

Kaden & Kaleb LOVE vampire teeth!! =)

The boys & I had fun putting little gift bags together for their friends and Kaleb's class... putting glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth & spider rings, caramel apple & candy corn saltwater taffy in them. When I saw this cake, I just couldn't pass up on it. The boys thought it was AWESOME and can't wait for dessert!!! I love celebrating holidays! =)

Ward Halloween Party

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Tonight was our ward Halloween party. It was held outside... and it was perfect fall weather. There was a hay ride, a bonfire and other games for the children, and of course, my boys' favorite part, the trunk-or-treat. There were several creative families who actually decorated their trunks, one even had carved pumpkins lit with candles. The activity was open to friends and family, not just the ward, and we had a GREAT turn out... I was quite surprised! The only downfall was we ran out of candy after the first 5 minutes or so!

Kaleb HATES wearing things on his head, he has since he was a baby, so his mask lasted just a few minutes on until he took it off for the rest of the night. During the trunk-or-treat, Kaleb was a bit confused saying, 'Hey, I don't have any candy!' After I explained to him he needed to walk up to everyone's car trunk and say 'trick-or-treat', he ended up with more candy than Kaden at the end of the night!

It has been said that two great minds think alike... neither Kaden or his best friend, Braydon, knew the other was going to be a ninja too!! You can image their surprise! =)

Sky didn't want to dress up, but was really happy to see all the other teenagers were there too to hang out with. (Oh my gosh, he looks like SUCH a mini Donnie in this pic!! =)

Donnie & I had such a great time looking at all the really good costumes, handing out candy, drinking hot cocoa and talking with friends. The best part, is we didn't get home really late... just in time to tuck our sugar-crazed boys into bed, of course after a supervised intense teethbrushing!!

Our Honor Roll Student!

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Kaden made the honor roll at school this first quarter and came home with a certificate today. This is a big deal because the students aren't allowed to have a single 'C' on their report card, even if they still have a 3.0. The school had an honorary breakfast to congratulate all the students this morning, and Kaden said it was really yummy. We are sooooo proud of him... good job, Kaden!!

Kaden's also in the 100% Spelling Club. =)

Home Again!!!!

Monday, October 20, 2008

Donnie FINALLY came home tonight!!! Yay!! I was a bit sneaky and told the boys I had a meeting to go to... and a few hours later I came home with Dad. It was SO hard to keep it quiet from them. At church on Sunday, Kaden was so excited telling me his dad would be home in 11 days... because when I told him he'd be home before Halloween, that HAD to mean the 30th. I had to just about bite my lip to keep from telling him.

Donnie and I barely walked in from the garage and the boys attacked him, they were SO happy to see him!! That night, after we tucked the two little boys in bed and they'd said their prayer, Kaden said, 'Yay... we're five again, our family is back to normal!'

Homemade Chicken Soup For The Sick & Weary Soul

Monday, October 6, 2008

UPDATE: I found out today, at the doctor's office, that I have pneumonia... good thing is I caught it in it's early stages. Just another reason why us moms need to remember to take care of ourselves, ESPECIALLY when our hubbies are away!!

As you all know, there is an awful virus that seems to be plaguing the entire country. Even after all of the Vitamin C I have been ingesting to stay healthy, I woke up Friday morning with a high fever, body aches & pains, extremely dizzy and I spent my entire weekend on the sectional in the family room. The boys have been SO well behaved for me... although they were a bit rough with each other on the trampoline and now have bumps and bruises... all 3 of them look abused.

It's at times like this, when a friend brings you homemade chicken soup you know it really is for your soul. This weekend has been difficult in many ways, we lost one of our men... so knowing I have great girlfriends, a wonderful mom, and a loving husband (who I've heard more from this weekend than I have over a month, because he's been so busy) who check in on me from time to time and make sure I'm alive, is so appreciated!!!

Thanks Leiah!!!! The soup was AMAZING... it TRULY hit the spot!!!!

Time To Get Married..... Again???

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Kaden has quite a different view of the world... he reminds me soooo much of how I used to be when I was a little girl. My parents said I used to ask the strangest questions. A few weekends ago, we were driving to a friend's house... and Kaden spoke up and said that Donnie and I need to get married again. I asked him why and Kaden said, 'Because I want you to have another baby, and every time you get married you have a baby. So you and dad have been married three times now, and you need to get married a fourth time. I want a sister this time, okay?" Sky and I just looked at each other and smiled... of course, we were both laughing SOOOO hard on the inside but didn't want Kaden to know. Sky spoke up and said, "Yep, that's where babies come from." Having kids is so much fun!!!!! :)
