Tonight was my second official 'girls nite out' since Donnie left, it was a lot of fun to be able to hang out with some friends I haven't seen in a while. And after a very long and busy week between school, studying, the boys, running errands, appointments and sports, it was much needed!! Our FRG was having a Liberty Luau... it was a fundraising event, so they had all kinds of really good raffles with baskets put together worth over $200. Of course, I knew I wouldn't win (I never do :) ... so Maria and I were sure to be one of the early birds there to get a pair of pearl earrings. The best part of the evening was the presentation with letters to all of us wives from our hubbies... it was a great night!!

Today was a super busy day. We woke up early for Kaden's very first flag-football game! He was SO excited! While he was getting ready, he asked me if there were going to be any cheerleaders there cheering for him. I told him 'no, not for a few more years.' Well, guess what... there WERE cheerleaders!! Hahaha... I think I momentarily forgot, we live in the SOUTH!!! :) They were SO cute in their little skirts... cheering, 'Go Mean Green, Go Mean Green, Go'!!!! I couldn't help but yell with them!! Good thing Kaden doesn't get embarrassed by mom yet!! :)
My Little 'Mean Green' Football Machine
His team won 20-0, 3 field goals and a 2-point conversion (but we didn't keep score ;) ! Kaden is having SO much playing on a team with Braydon, one of his best buddies.
Saturday evening, me and one of my best girlfriends, Koreen, went to a Taylor Swift concert. As adorable as I thought Taylor was... I now KNOW she is! We had SUCH a great time!! And we laughed through the whole thing, because we were surrounded by teenage and young girls wearing sundresses and cowboy boots, eating cotton candy! That was our first time ever being at a concert where cotton candy was sold!! Hahaha!! :)

Today, Sky and I traveled to Montgomery (the capital of AL :) because he was invited to a student ambassador orientation... apparently, he was recommended by one of his teachers. The program is absolutely amazing... next summer they are traveling to Japan, visiting Tokyo, Hiroshima and climbing Mt. Fuji!! The children begin preparing for it right away, getting to know the leaders and learning the language. It is also quite expensive, so they begin fundraising right away too. Students receive credit for college and volunteer hours traveling abroad for 2 weeks. They spend a few days with a local family, are in involved in taking care of the planet by planting trees or food for a local under-privileged village, learn the culture and make friends with people from another part of the world. The program was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, and today many ivy league universities don't even accept applicants that haven't taken part. We got to see a video, showing what the students will be doing during their stay... and I begged Sky to pack me in his suitcase!! The ambassador leaders, who go with the students on these trips, are teachers... so that's DEFINITELY something I want to do!!! They also have a citizen ambassador program for adults... for all of you that are intrigued by this as well. I think we've decided all three of our boys should have the opportunity to go on one the summer before their senior years. Sky can't wait!!! What a great way to learn some independence before serving on a mission!!
Hahaha! It was REALLY bright... this was the best pic I was able to get of Sky, he said his eyes were hurting.Sky and I didn't get home until the evening, and after we met Koreen and picked up Kaden and Kaleb, we had a barbecue to go to at the Harvey's. They have been our friends & neighbors since we built our house almost three years ago... and we are sad to see them move. Kaden & Kaleb are really going to miss Dylan & Max... and I'm going to miss my creative girlfriend, who I spent many LATE nights with working on Donnie's Army scrapbook. We've shared quite a few laughs and have been there for each other when our husbands were away... for birthdays, swapping the boys, even a fun weekend together down to Florida. Angelica came over and wiped down my kitchen one time, when I wasn't feeling well, and brought us soup for dinner... I'll never forget she did that. But we know they are excited to be going back west to Angelica's home state of Washington. We wish you all the best of luck!!!!
